Arguably the finest fly fishing educational club in the world, the Long Beach Casting Club has turned out more ceritified and master certified casting instructors, under the tutlage Joe Libeu the late Alan Rohrer, than any other club in existence. A hot bed of fine anglers and home to the only tournament casting club in Southern California, LBCC (Long Beach Casting Club) boasts a fine club house and a 130 X 260 foot casting pond. LBCC is located in Recreation Park, on Federation Drive at 7th Street, one mile west of Cal State Long Beach.

The club has an ongoing educational plan that repeats itself every year. Soon after the winter fishing trade shows the club begins it's cycle of educational classes designed for beginners and intermediate level fly fishers.

Classes are generally free to the public.

Class Schedule

This schedule is generic: For actual dates read the LBCC Target Talk

This class is open only to those who are new to the sport and have attended the previous casting classes.

November ~ February  -  Beginners Fly Tying Classes are held every Tuesday evening with each class focusing on one pattern. Each pattern is chosen to teach new techniqes and tying skills. This class starts with very simple patterns and progresses to the more complex patterns over time.  Many club memebers attend these classes every year not only to improve their own tying but to help out the beginners.

February/March  -  Advanced Fly tying classes are offered which introduce the use of advanced tying techniques and materials.

As you can see this is a very active club. The classes are offered FREE to the public. You only have ot pay for your materials. So if you live in the area you can't find a better education at any price.
